The Spieskappel monastery in the Spieskappel district of the municipality of Frielendorf in the Hessian Schwalm-Eder district was a Romanesque monastery complex that consisted of a canon monastery and a Premonstratensian monastery. The basilica of Oberkappel is used today as the parish church of St. Johannes of the Protestant community Frielendorf-Spieskappel, while little of the other facilities has been preserved. The late Staufer building sections of the church show relationships and similarities to the architectural style and the builders of the Fritzlar Cathedral.
