Here you will find a nice barbecue area, which, according to the information on freiburg-schwarzwald.de/littenweiler/grillplatz.htm, is also freely accessible and does not require advance notice or a fee. If you have refrained from lugging food to be grilled up to here and still feel like it, the nearby Edeka on the corner of Lorettostraße / Günterstalstraße is recommended. There is also a stop for tram line 2 that will bring you back to the city center.

Hiking

The northwestern tip of the Sternwald at the foot of the Bromberg, starting between Günterstalstrasse, Schauinslandstrasse and Türkenlouisstrasse, is called Sternwaldeck. The building of the Max Planck Institute for Foreign and International Criminal Law and the Forestry Office are striking.
After a short climb into the Sternwald there is a spacious playground.
