The lively atmosphere and the special charm that characterize Salzburg can best be experienced on a walk through the historic center. The old town of Salzburg can be explored on foot. It is divided by the river Salzach into two parts: the right old town with Linzergasse, Platzl and Steingasse and the left side of the old town. UNESCO's World Heritage Site includes the older left-leaning Old Town, which also includes the Kaiviertel, the Festungsberg and the Mönchsberg.
