Sailing ship Mercator made no fewer than 54 voyages. The museum ship has been in Ostend since 1964 and you can discover the history of this three-master on board. It is a protected monument and perhaps the most famous ship in Belgium, with many thousands of visitors every year.
Sailing ship Mercator is currently open daily. The museum opens at 11am and closes at 4:30pm (last visitors on board at 4pm). The entrance fee must be paid at the entrance of the ship and can only be done with a payment card. You do not need to book in advance. The entrance fee is 5.00 euros per person. Children between 4 and 11 years old pay 3.00 euros and children under 4 years old can board for free.

This former school ship of the Belgian merchant fleet was used to transport the remains of Father Damiaan. The authentic interior of the three-master has been preserved and is currently used as a nautical museum. On board are a whole range of exotic objects, collected during the ship's sailing time.
