Oh, that's nice! Anyone traveling through Alsace must not drive past Eguisheim, because a visit to this picture-perfect town is a must! As in other half-timbered towns in Alsace, you will find a very neat, idyllic town center with colorful houses and lots of flowers. Small and partly crooked houses with loving floral decorations adorn this gem. Lovely!

Eguisheim is a very pretty Alsatian village. The village lies below one of three castle ruins (Dagsburg, Wahlenburg, castle Weckmund) crowned mountain.
In Eguisheim was probably already in Roman times a fort. The octagonal castle complex is the core of a so-called "onion city", as all the streets ring around the castle in the center. Definitely bring time!

We liked it there a lot - and it is quieter and quieter than e.g. Colmar (at least in the evening when the day trippers are gone).
So as a place to stay Eguisheim is really recommended. For hiking, of course! Anytime again - or maybe better: Next time maybe in the spring when it's not so hot.
