A spacious, wide walking and cycling path that follows the course of the Scheldt.
It can be quite busy here on weekends. Many like to get a breath of fresh air... At the bottom of the dike, there are still typical polder houses in various places. These were inhabited by cloth and basket weavers.
In the hinterland you will find many water features in various places. These water features are also called 'wheels'. The 'wheels' are silent witnesses of the dike breach in 1552. Then a violent storm created a breach in the Scheldt dike between Branst and Eikevliet. For example, you will encounter wheels in various places in the landscape near Bornem and Klein-Brabant.

Departure from the small parking lot at the old SAS. You are directly on the dam. You can walk all the way across the dam. There is also a jetty to cross by boat half way to visit the valley of the Durme. The ferry runs regularly.
