A beautiful, attractive-looking castle is located on the Oude Scheldearm. Unfortunately, the castle is not open to the general public. Yet a castle with an eventful history that has its foundations from the 10th or 11th century. The castle was to provide protection against the invading Normans. The castle is certainly not out of place in the list of the most beautiful castles in Europe

The castle has its origins in the 10th and 11th centuries. Ancient foundations indicated that a fortress was built here to withstand the invasions of the Normans. Over the centuries, this castle has had several battles and necessary repairs and renovation works.
