Nordic walking

The Brehme rises in the town of Brehme of the same name and flows via Ecklingerode approx. 6 km further to Duderstadt, where it feeds the Obertorteich. Here it is divided. The second part flows underground to the Westertorteich. From here it goes underground again, it comes to light outside the city and flows into the cave.
In 1994, the city of Duderstadt structurally traced the historical course as part of the state horticultural show "Nature in Urban Development". A channel was created through the entire pedestrian zone.

Nordic walking

The water from the Brehme was used to brew beer in the Middle Ages. Therefore, the day before the brewing, the residents were obliged to keep the Brehmewater clean. A town crier proclaimed the following slogan: "Today it will be announced that no one will go into the Brehme, tomorrow there will be brewing."
Around 350 houses had brewing rights.
