The Brehme rises in the town of the same name and flows about 6 km further to Duderstadt via Ecklingerode, where it feeds the Obertorteich. Here it is divided. In 1994 the city of Duderstadt structurally traced the historical course as part of the state horticultural show "Nature in Urban Development". A channel was created through the entire pedestrian zone.
