Louise Marie is a parish village on the territory of Ronse (with which it was not merged, however, because of facilities for the French speakers). The village was named after the first queen of the Belgians, Louise-Marie of Orléans (1812 - 1850). The foundation stone of the Church of Our Lady of La Salette coincided with the first anniversary of her death.

This church was built in 1852-1853, probably designed by Louis Minard. In 1899, the church was extended based on a design by Hendrik Geirnaert. The church was withdrawn from worship in 2021. The municipality of Maarkedal became the owner of the building.

You reach this church via a beautiful linden alley that, after previous damage, was fortunately restored to its former glory in 2009. The Onze-Lieve-Vrouw La Salette Church is the parish church of Louise-Marie, a hamlet on the border of Maarkedal and Ronse. The Louise-Marie parish emerged around 1850 from the natural, social and geographical connection of residents from the municipalities of Ellezelles, Ronse, Nukerke, Schorisse and Etikhove.

The foundation stone of the church was laid in 1850. The fact that the first Belgian queen, Louise Marie of Orléans, died on the day the foundation stone of the church was laid would explain the name of the parish Louise-Marie, although this cannot be said with certainty can become. The church was consecrated in 1853, but subsequently underwent several renovations. The bell tower, in neo-Romanesque style, dates from 1899.

The church has an organ from 1864, built by Maximilien Van Peteghem from the well-known family of church organ builders.
