Hiking

After the major floods in 1998, the province of Antwerp started looking for solutions. One of the first interventions was the construction of this flooding area on a meadow that the municipality of Sint-Katelijne-Waver made available. Since November 2002, this 1.4 ha area can store a maximum of 18,000 m³ of water. For peak times, when the flood zone offers insufficient relief, a pumping station is also provided to pump the Goorsbosbeek empty more quickly.
