The Oude Spoorwegberm connects the Nete Valley with the green Forten Belt around Antwerp. As the name suggests, it is a disused railway line. For years, the railway embankment remained deserted, giving nature a free hand.
The Groene connecting road crosses three municipalities of Kontich, Duffel and Rumst. With a total length of 5 km, and only 20 to 50 meters in width, the Oude Spoorwegberm is one of the longest nature reserves in Flanders.
