A beautifully situated winery directly below the vineyards, offering a wide selection of wines, sparkling wines, and brandies.

The steep "Durlacher Turmberg" vineyard, located above the vineyards, covers 7 hectares, is exclusively owned by the State Winery, and is cultivated as a single vineyard site. Wine has been grown here for over 1250 years.

The Karlsruhe-Durlach State Winery was founded in 1903 as the Durlach Vine Propagation Institute and was subordinate to the Augustenberg Agricultural Experiment Station until 1921. The Vine Propagation Institute comprised the vineyards owned by the Margravial family. In 1832, Margrave Wilhelm established a vineyard here; it passed to a Durlach innkeeper in 1875, to the city of Durlach in 1887, and to the State of Baden in 1903. The current building at Posseltstraße 19, now a listed historical monument, was erected in 1911/12. Until 1919, it also housed an earthquake monitoring station located in a tunnel beneath the building that extended up into the Turmberg hill. From 1921 onward, the Vine Propagation Institute and the vineyards belonged to the Baden Viticultural Institute in Freiburg. From 1946, the vine propagation institute operated as an independent research station for viticulture in the Karlsruhe administrative district. In 1955, it expanded its activities, producing its own wines and providing cellar management consulting services for the entire Lower Baden region.

In 1993, L-Bank, the state bank for Baden-Württemberg, acquired the vineyards in Durlach and Grötzingen, as well as the administrative buildings. The vine propagation institute became the Karlsruhe-Durlach State Winery.
