The earliest mention of Wolfsburg is contained in a Lehensurkunde of 1269. An interesting and very long castle ruin. Definitely worth a visit. Admission is free and it is accessible at all times.

Very nice ruin which also houses a small kiosk.
Note the opening hours of the kiosk.

The historical ruin is interesting. The view is great, it is wonderfully quiet and it is a nice walk up.

When the flag blows on the tower, the hut is farmed.
There are coffee and cake, homemade sausage bread and of course Schorle .....

Wolfsburg, the stronghold of Neustadt an der Weinstraße, was built in the 13th century to protect the path from Neustadt to Kaiserslautern. Today only the Palas and some ring walls are preserved.
Rewarding the way from Neustadt to Wolfsburg (Sonnenweg) with stunning views over the rooftops of the city

The Burg-Tränke is already very important after the wonderful view into the valley and Neustadt.
For resting and vespers there are wooden tables and benches.

The Wolfsburg is the ruin of a mountain castle at the western entrance of Neustadt an der Weinstraße (Rhineland-Palatinate). Because of the elongated shape of the mountain spur on which the Wolfsburg was built, the ruins at a length of about 140 m only about 30 m wide. The longitudinal axis of the plant shows from northeast to southwest.

High above Neustadt lies the Wolfsburg. Important: Whenever the flag blows, the castle tavern is open. Regular on Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays from 11am.

Beautiful castle ruins with kiosk (opening hours note). The view of the valley and the city of Neustadt is unique in clear weather, but it can be very windy up here.
