The Holzape (not to be confused with the shorter Holzkape) is the longest river in the Reinhardswald, a 22.8 km long, southeastern and orographically right tributary of the Diemel in the northern Hessian district of Kassel (Germany). The Holzape rises and flows in the Reinhardswald. Its source is on the western slope of the Staufenberg (472.2 m above sea level), around 420 m southwest of its highest point. It lies at a height of around 410 m.

The Holzape meanders through an idyllic, natural, almost uninhabited and mostly forest-lined valley, flowing unchanneled in a predominantly northwesterly direction. A few hundred meters after its source, the stream passes under the district road 55, after which it flows through the Upper Holzapetal nature reserve.

The Holzape then passes the hamlet of Beberbeck (a district of Hofgeismar), which is located on a large open area, to the northeast and takes in the Nieme stream (on the left) coming from the south or Beberbeck between the Ziegelhütte forester's house and the building of the Beberbeck district forestry office, which are located east of the "Schnitterkaserne".
