In the wild:
Ring-tailed lemurs live in family groups of 12 - 25, more rarely up to 50 individuals. The breeding season is from April to June. After a gestation period of 4.5 months, 1 - 2 young are born. The "aunts" play an important role in the rearing of the young "Roll, after the death of the mother, they can even adopt the young. According to estimates, the total population of ring-tailed lemurs has decreased by almost 20% in the last 20 years. The main reasons for this are increasing habitat destruction and hunting."
