The former fortification was first mentioned in 1354 and consisted of a tower-reinforced wall, six fortified gates, trenches and a rampart. The battlements (last) used to move around the entire area. Remnants of the wall can still be seen in the street "An der Letze". It bears various inscriptions about destruction and reconstruction. There is also the Powder Tower, the last remaining defensive tower.

This powder tower was always open during the legendary grape blossom festival and my memories of it are consistently very positive, although the space inside is not very large.
