"... The Inde rises in the High Fens near Raeren in East Belgium. After 2.5 kilometers of flow, it crosses the state border in the Münsterwald. It flows through the Aachen hills with the town of Stolberg, where the Vichtbach flows into the Inde. Near the town of Eschweiler, the river enters the lowlands in the lower Inde valley. The Inde is the longest and most water-rich tributary of the Rur. Cool water and a lot of coarse debris are characteristic of this low mountain river north of the Eifel. It is only in the lower Inde valley downstream of the town of Eschweiler that the river is shaped by the flat Börde landscape. Cool water and gravel also characterize the Inde there up to the mouth. Cool water and gravelly subsoil are naturally a preferred habitat for fish such as grayling and Brown trout. ..."
