In Verona, there is a female sculpture under the balcony in the courtyard of the "Casa di Giulietta", the house that is associated there with Shakespeare's drama Romeo and Juliet. The local sculptor Nereo Costantini (1905-1969) created a 2.65 meter high statue of Juliet (Giulietta Capuleti) out of a bond with his homeland, which was erected in 1972 at this supposedly historic place in world literature. It has become the custom there to touch the statue's breasts, which is said to bring luck. Therefore the statue was replaced by a copy.

Since Munich has been the partner city of Verona since 1960, the Sparkasse von Verona used the 150th birthday of the local Stadtsparkasse for a nice present. Since then, one copy of the "Giulietta" has been found at the old town hall and one in Bogenhausen. Here it is fittingly on Shakespeare Square. A custom has also developed at both locations: flowers are given to sad beauty. At the base of the sculpture stands "Portrait of Juliet. Donated by the twin city Verona".
