This charming early Gothic church (c. 1680) replaces a larger Romanesque (c. 1200), which itself replaced a wooden Carolingian place of worship (c. 694), whose altar - at least according to legend - over the tomb of St. Gudula was placed.
Interesting are the Gothic baptismal font in white stone (16th century), the Baroque confessional, the white marble statue of Our Lady with Child (17th century) and Saint Gudula (17th century).

Parish church of Hamme, today dedicated to Saint Gudula, but until 1982 dedicated to Our Lady. The parish church is an example of a small Gothic village church, the core of which dates back to the 13th century. The church building is surrounded by a hornbeam-hed cemetery, which was later extended to the north. The red beech trees that surround the oldest part of the cemetery were replanted.
