The Lauterachtal was already a much-used east-west connection route before the year 1000. So it is not surprising that we here in Allersburg with the St. Michael Church, a very early church foundation around 850. One speaks here of a "fortified church". The church is surrounded by a cemetery with a wall with loopholes and battlements. In times of danger, the population could seek protection behind the wall, if not withstand a long siege.
