The Stephanuskirche on the Wannenberg was built between 1460 and 1474 and is now a Protestant church.

In addition to the coat of arms of Margrave Charles I of Baden on the vault of the chancel, there is also the Palatinate lion in the church.

In 1701 the Stephanuskirche received an organ. Next to the sacristy door of the church, a sandstone slab is embedded in the wall, which contains the names of the citizens who lived in stone in 1701. The names indicate how many guilders or kreuzers each individual donated for the organ built that year. It is also marked with a "zero" who gave nothing.

"The late Gothic Church of St. Stephen (Stephanus) in Stein is one of the outstanding works of Gothic art in the northern Black Forest. Hardly any other church is better suited for studying a Gothic church design from the end of the 15th century.

Choir and nave contain treasures that one would not expect to find in a country church: a wooden epitaph of great art-historical value and a "holy grave" that can otherwise only be found in selected city churches." A book describes this church in detail: https: //isbn.de/buch/9783948424640_die-stephanuskirche-stein.htm

Unfortunately, the church is usually closed and therefore not to be visited spontaneously.
