Chartist cave - discover where they stored their weaponry and where the walk to Newport effectively began!

      November 11, 2020

The Chartist Cave is supposedly to have been used by the Chartists to stockpile weapons around the time of their march and armed uprising on Newport, and there is a commemorative plaque set into the left wall of the entrance. The cave is not at all easy to find in the wild, desolate countryside of Llangynidr Mountain, and it is not really visible until you get up close to it. It is situated at the north-western end of a low outcrop, roughly 250m north of Llyn y Garn Fawr.

We stopped for a bit of lunch - sheltered nicely from the wind!
