This oldest park in the Wuppertal urban area is magnificent: up to ninety meters above the level of the Wupper, and only twenty minutes' walk from the center of Elberfeld. With a dense network of paths and extensive meadows, flower beds, monuments and a wide range of facilities, the Hardt attracts its visitors to the green heights. Part of the Hardt and its crown: the botanical garden.

1807 "Alte Hardt" is created in the area of today's playground
1812 Construction of a windmill for oil production
1820 The Villa Ella country house was built in the neo-renaissance style
1838 The windmill was converted into the current Elisa tower in the classical style
1882 Realization of the expansion of the Hardt plants to the north
1890 Foundation of the Botanical Garden as a school garden
1907 Construction of the Bismarck Tower
1910 Relocation of the school garden to its current location on the grounds of Villa Eller
1954 For the 25th anniversary of the city, the Hardt facilities are extended to the east as far as the Bismarck tower
2007 The 200th anniversary of Hardt
Inauguration of the newly created area 'New Hardt Garden'
Inclusion of the historical Hardt areas in the list of garden monuments

The Hardthöhe with the botanical garden and the extremely attractive architecture of the orangery and the Luisenturm should be mentioned as worth seeing.
