Pedestrians coming from the south on the central axis of the courtyard in the direction of the fountain will find a life-size bronze sculpture of a rhinoceros lying in the grass on the right. This sculpture, created by Johannes Brus in 2002, has been on loan from a Düsseldorf gallery at this public location since 2009. In 2012 the rhino was acquired for the collection of the Kunstpalast. The work of art contributed to the naming of the Kunstpalast's children's website, which was launched in 2019, and invites visitors to the Rhinopalast.
