Cliffs released for climbing (source: City of Nideggen) The North Eifel climbing garden is located in the Rur Valley near Nideggen. The red sandstone cliffs stretch between Kreuzau and Heimbach.
The rocks are in the nature reserve "Buntsandsteinfelsen im Rurtal between Kreuzau and Heimbach". The Kreuzau / Nideggen landscape plan of the Düren district has been in effect there since the beginning of 2005.
As the owner of the rocks, the city of Nideggen sells the climbing tickets (at the petrol station) and carries out checks in the climbing garden.
Climbing is only allowed on the Hirtzley, the Effels, the Hinkelsteinen 1-4 and the Felsen Zwei Brüder.
