The Riddagshausen pond area owes its creation to the work of the Cistercian monks around 900 years ago. The most important ponds that are still used for fishing today are Kreuzteich, Mittelteich and Neuer Bleeksteich as well as Lages- and Spitzerteich to the southeast of the monastery.
