The sandy grassland "Neues Land" was developed in 1992 as a compensation measure for the construction of the A39 motorway. Due to the construction of the motorway, natural sandy grass areas were destroyed in the route area - such dry sandy grasslands are, however, highly endangered and therefore strictly protected communities according to the Nature Conservation Act. If they are destroyed by construction measures, a replacement must be created.
