One of the sights is the church of Seelow. It has an eventful history. The parish church was rebuilt in 1630 after a devastating fire. In 1820 part of the tower collapsed, so the church was in urgent need of repair. It was not until 1830, after the reconstruction was rejected, that the new building was designed by Siedler and Schinkel.

Hiking

The tower of the church was blown up in 1945 by the German Wehrmacht. During an attack during the fighting for the Seelower Heights, a devastating fire destroyed the roof structure and the wooden inventory. Only the outer walls remained. When the tower was abandoned, the church was rebuilt in two sections by 1952 and 1959 respectively.
After the fall of the Wall, the generous donation from the mail-order company founder Dr. Werner Otto (who was born on August 13, 1909 in Seelow) after 8 months of construction the church tower was rebuilt and inaugurated on April 19, 1998.
