Hiking Highlight (Segment)
The entrance to the gorge is located at the rehabilitation clinic Lautergrund. At the beginning of the trail is still relatively wide, but then becoming increasingly narrow and leads up to some even over rocks. There are railings to grab and hold on to the rock faces. The trail then ends near the Hohlen Stein, a rock formation that should not be missed.

Tiefenthal Gorge seems to be less spectacular at the beginning. But the further you go, the more exciting it gets. The surrounding slopes are getting narrower and rockier. Soon you will be in the midst of steep slopes and rock formations. Can you feel the damp, fresh forest air that collects in this ravine? Fantastic!
At the end of the ravine your surefootedness is required, because the path leads over footsteps in the rock on a free plateau. Here you come across the Pfarrfelsen. According to archaeological findings, there used to be a hermitage and a medieval castle.

It is not quite as spectacular as announced. Only in the upper third does it become wildly romantic, as one knows it from the Franconian Switzerland or the Bärental.
The lower half to the stream crossing is a bit boring to walk on the good gravel road. Alternative tip: From the clinic (after the gate on the right) to this crossing, there are mountain paths down and in the middle of the opposite slope.
