Imposing weir on the Elster. Here you can take a break. There is also good parking at the weir. This makes the weir a good starting point for hikes.

The settlement area divided by the White Elster was only connected to traffic for several centuries by a ford, which was impassable during floods. In 1870 it was made independently passable by means of a bridge privately financed by the owner of the Neue Mühle. It was destroyed for the first time by ice drift as early as 1871 and was rebuilt again and again in the following decades. The importance of the bridge increased after the grand opening of the Gera Süd – Weischlitz railway on July 17, 1875 and the opening of a post office on May 1, 1884. The fourth Elster Bridge, built in 1892, was financed by the state for the first time, but in 1945 it was blown up during World War II stop advancing American troops. This was only repaired later with wooden covering, which caused a high level of maintenance. Only in 2006 was this fifth bridge replaced by a new reinforced concrete bridge.
