The hill of the "Rüßburg" is located in the largest meander of the White Elster near the town of Rüßdorf. Rüßdorf was first mentioned in a document on October 4, 1209. The Rüßburg was located near Rüßdorf. The old castle site of a fortress can still be recognized by its surface shape. It lay on the western high bank of the Elster and was already laid out by the Slavs. In the late Middle Ages, the castle square in front was fortified. That is where Rüßdorf came into being.
