Trittau Castle stood at the end of this avenue until 1775. The castle island can still be seen today.
Otherwise you would otherwise drive past it if the blue information board did not indicate it. I think it's very good that it reminds people of how things used to look here.

For centuries Trittau was the administrative seat of a huge office and the scene of political intrigues and military fighting. Because of the strategically favorable location on the southern edge of the Duchy of Holstein, a castle was built in 1326, where disputes occurred again and again in the following centuries.

Later a two-winged castle was built in place of the castle. The prominent, rectangular shape of the terrain in the Billeniederung, which is called "Crimea" based on the Ukrainian peninsula in the Black Sea, still testifies to the former castle and palace square.
