The Hahnheider tower is also lovingly called "Langer Otto" by many. Since 2001, this 27m high tower towers from the Großer Hahnheider mountain, and allows a panoramic view to the port of Hamburg.

In good weather you can look incredibly far in all 4 directions. But even in bad weather a nice destination.

The view rewards for the many stairs. Definitely take it with you. The small "side paths" to the tower are also recommended ... either fairly straight and steep, or on "serpentine".

Great big mixed forest very nice to see in the fall

The autumn coloring is a dream! Did the tour today.

Nice view, in clear weather to the port of Hamburg!

When the tower is reached and you are at a height of 30 meters, the tour was definitely worth it 👍

From the observation tower, you have a fantastic view over the hilly landscape of the Hahnheide, as far as Holstein Switzerland. Even if the view is low due to fog or rain, it is worth the climb. Step by step you climb up the adjacent trees to finally break through their treetops. Welcome to the forest bathing.

Next to the tower there is a roofed break and a trash can.

There's a sensational view over the trees. The climb up the tower is worth it!

The Hahnheide is a predominantly wooded and characterized by rolling hills and valleys part of the Stormarner Switzerland. From the observation tower one is rewarded with a clear view with a view to the Lübeck and Hamburg church tower. Curiously, the Kleine Hahnheider Berg is 100m higher than its "big brother".

From the tower Hamburg (Heinrich Hertz Tower, Elphi) can be clearly seen in appropriate weather.
August 21, 2018
The view is wonderful!
Be sure to take binoculars with you, because you can e.g. clearly recognize the Heinrich Hertz radio tower and harbor cranes in Hamburg.

The Hahnheide is an approx. 1,500 ha large, beautiful nature reserve near Trittau in Stormarnschen Switzerland. Here you will find wonderful old tree populations of pine, beech and spruce.
The forest area is overthrown by the "Long Otto".
From this lookout tower you have an impressive view over Stormarnsche Switzerland. The 27 meter high tower is located on the 99 meter high “Großer Hahnheider Berg”. With good visibility, you can even spot the Hamburg TV tower in the distance.
The long Otto has been a very beautiful lookout tower for decades - it was built in 1974 and rebuilt in 2001 with a height of 27m. I have known him since the end of the 1970s and I always enjoy coming here - the view is fantastic.

An exciting lookout tower in the middle of the forest with great views to Hamburg.
December 26, 2016
I can only agree with the previous speakers: the view is priceless!
Unfortunately, it is accordingly full both on the tower and in the forest.
You look for relaxation in vain and in the current time ...
Maybe better to go in bad weather;)

The Hahnheider Berg is the largest in Stormarn. In fact, there are actually two mountains, the small and the large Hahnheider Berg. On the large Hahnheider Berg there is a lookout tower (Langer Otto), from which the surroundings can be admired. In fact, the small Hahnheider Berg is one meter higher than the big one.

Great section: narrow, natural path through quite dense coniferous trees and directly after the tower almost alpine climb 😁
April 24, 2020
Great tower that rewards the ascent with a wonderful view!
February 20, 2021
For decades a very beautiful lookout tower - it was built in 1974 and rebuilt in 2001 with a height of 27 m. I like to come here again and again since the end of the 70s - the view is fantastic.
