The Haspel or Thieves' Tower is the oldest tower in Vaihingen, built in the 13th century.
With its six floors, it dominates the silhouette of the old town. On the first floor there is still the "Haspel" with which prisoners could be lowered into the dungeon, which is around eight meters below.
The tower can only be visited as part of themed tours.

A corner tower from the early 15th century, part of the city's fortifications.

It is also called the "Thieves' Tower" because it served as a dungeon for a long time. Convicted prisoners were lowered 8 meters down on a rope – the lower entrance didn't exist back then.

The tower is the only remaining vestige of the city's fortifications on Grabenstraße.
