The footpath and cycle path, which opened at the beginning of October 2020, covers an approx. 3 km long section of the Vaihingen (Enz) North - Enzweihingen railway line. This is a disused standard-gauge branch line (opened in 1904) with a length of 7.33 kilometers that connected Enzweihingen via Vaihingen Stadt with Vaihingen (Enz) Nord station (also called Reichsbahnhof).
The cycle path passes under the Vaihingen/Enz DB train station and creates the connection down to the city. It ends at Kehlstrasse. Kaltenstein Castle can be easily reached via the cycle path.
