    Hiking

According to the oldest tradition, it was first erected in 681 on the Denderbank by Saint Amandus, following the discovery of a miraculous statue. Rebuilt several times: in 1183, as a parish church and important pilgrimage site (after destruction by the Normans), in 1363 in the middle of the Molenstraat and provided with a bluestone turret, in 1782 because of its too dilapidated state. Closed during the French Revolution from 1792 to 1805. Protected in 1921. Destroyed and burned in 1940. Finally rebuilt in 1955-56 as a simple modern chapel designed by S. De Neef and Alfons Singelijn.
