A nature reserve along the Nete of a former abbey is certainly worth a visit. The abbey did not survive the French Revolution. Only the Plague House (16th century), the Poortgebouw and the Coach House (18th century) and the Ice Cellar (19th century) are now silent witnesses of a rich abbey life. The bicycle café is a winner in the area. Hikers and nature lovers are not hungry here either. In the abbey park you will find trees over 160 years old, including the two thickest plane trees in Belgium.
