The Jungfernbrücke in the Berlin district of Mitte is the oldest surviving bridge in the city and at the same time the only one of the former nine identical bascule bridges. She was under Frederick III. probably built in 1688 or 1689 and was first called Spreegassenbrücke.

Until 1937, the bridge was also accessible by wagons. Due to a deepening of the river bed, the ramps were replaced by stairs so that only pedestrians can pass the bridge.
