On a mountain tongue near Kreuzweingarten, which is called "Alter Burgberg", lies an Iron Age ring wall (50 ° 36'40 "N; 6 ° 47'53" E), which according to today's knowledge was inhabited by the Eburones. The wall system (walls and ditches) encloses an oval area 350 m long and 180 m wide. To the north, west and south the terrain drops steeply behind the wall, in contrast to the east, where there was a second wall in front for additional fortification. This is also where the entrance to this height fortification was. Excavations in the 1920s clarified that the walls had wall shells made of dry stone, which were filled with earth and further strengthened by beams and horizontal pieces of wood (Murus Gallicus). In addition, houses were detected by post marks inside the complex.

The old castle hill is a 272.5 m above sea level. NHN high elevation in the district of Kreuzweingarten, a district of the city of Euskirchen in the district of Euskirchen in North Rhine-Westphalia.
The elevation is east of the village center and there east of the Erft.
Hardtburg is to the east again.
To the east of the Old Castle Hill is a hill fort that experts have been able to date to the early Iron Age.
During excavations in the 1920s, archaeologists determined that its extent was around 320 meters by 175 meters.
The dry double walls had an earth core and were reinforced with vertical and horizontal timber.
Inside, traces of posts from wooden buildings could be uncovered.
