    Hiking

Lutter & Wegner has been operating (with interruptions) at this location on Berlin's Gendarmenmarkt since 1818. The basement housed the legendary wine cellar, established in 1835. Sparkling wines and the finest red and white wines were stored there. The tavern was a regular haunt of E. T. A. Hoffmann and many celebrities of yesteryear, such as Otto von Bismarck, Prince Friedrich Wilhelm of Prussia, Heinrich Heine, Claire Waldorf, Friedrich Hollaender, and others.
The term "Sekt" (sparkling wine) was also coined here.

    Hiking

The poet, painter, composer, and court judge E. T. A. Hoffmann once lived in the predecessor building of this house at the corner of Charlottenstraße and Taubenstraße in Berlin until his death. He occupied the attic apartment on the street corner, which plays a key role in his story "Des Cousins Eckfenster" (The Cousin's Corner Window).

The ground floor of the house now houses the Lutter & Wegner winery, founded in 1811, where Hoffmann once regularly frequented with his friend, the actor Ludwig Devrient.
