The listed Lahn weir in Runkel was used to supply water to the Runkel town mill. It runs through the river from the mill towards the southeast for a length of around 90 meters and ends at the lock island. The weir has probably existed since the Runkel town mill was founded, and thus since the 13th century at the latest. And in 1808/09 the first Lahn lock was built in Runkel.
