Four-wing complex of late Gothic style, built 1484-1503, in ruins since 1637, new museum building from 1901-1904. In terms of architectural history, the Moritzburg, dedicated to the patron saint of the archbishopric, stands between Gothic and Renaissance, it is no longer a castle in the traditional sense and not yet a palace. 1514-1541 Cardinal Albrecht used the castle as a residence. After the fire in the Thirty Years' War in January 1637, the castle was partially rebuilt. Today the former fortress houses the Moritzburg Foundation - Saxony-Anhalt State Art Museum.
