The octagonal brick building in the Lohner City Park was built in 1859 as a combined wind and water mill. Today the registry office is located in the mill and you can get married here.

The octagonal brick building in Lohne's city park was built in 1859 as a combined wind and water mill. There is evidence that there were already two previous mills nearby. To ensure that there was always enough water available to operate the mill, Pastor Heinrich von dem Kampe (died 1882) had the area behind the watermill, the "Wellen" and the mill pond, dug out as a water reservoir. In 1950, the interior of the mill was converted into a restaurant and a café. Rowing parties took place on the mill pond at that time. The building has been owned by the city since 1975; after thorough renovation and the installation of a new water wheel, it has been available to the "Kunstverein Die Wassermühle e.V." for exhibitions since 1982. The cultural monument is part of an ensemble that includes the Möhring farm, the mill pond, the city park and the open-air stage. On March 7, 2014, the watermill was reopened after further renovation and expansion with an exhibition by Helmut Helmes. The mill wheel has also been restored and will generate electricity in the future. The building is used for events during exhibition-free periods such as readings

or concerts and is also a popular place for weddings.
