Do you want to go very high? Let your gaze wander, enjoy the full beauty of Lohne from above? Then it is worthwhile to climb the steps of the Lohner lookout tower in the idyllic city forest. Once at the top, the "exertions" of the ascent are quickly forgotten and the unique view over the area awaits you here.

If the visibility is good, you can even see the town of Quakenbrück in Artland, as far as Lake Dümmer or as far as Cloppenburg! The 18-meter (17.35-meter to be exact) high tower, which is located on a small hill, is a landmark of the rise of Lohnes to the city. In 1908 it was established by the Beautification Society, the forerunner of today's Heimatverein, as a visible sign of the new dignity. In 1996 it was extensively renovated, and today the beautiful piece of Lohner history is a listed building. In winter, the hill of the observation tower is a popular meeting place for children, because then the small hill turns into a toboggan run!

The tower is open to the public at least once a month (announcement in the press). In addition, the tower can be visited on the second day of Easter, Pentecost and Christmas.
