The 7.3-hectare Citizen Climate Park expands the Hopener Wald recreation area and is located in the immediate vicinity of the fish ponds and the renaturalized Mühlenbach stream. It can be reached from Lohne city center in five minutes by bike. The project is funded by the federal program "Adaptation of Urban Spaces to Climate Change."
It is a former agricultural area that we will transform into a more diverse natural area in the coming years. A mosaic of implemented measures and "citizen projects" is emerging, with which we set a model and try to better prepare nature and ourselves for the consequences of climate change.
