Please check local regulations for: Insel Vilm
Location: Putbus, Vorpommern-Rügen, Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, Germany
The island of Vilm is located in the bay of Rügen, it mainly grows beech and oak trees. Since 1936, the island has been protected and since 1990 part of the Biosphere Reserve Southeast Rügen. In GDR times, the island was reserved for government members of the GDR. Today, the buildings are used by the Federal Agency for Nature Conservation. A trip to Vilm starts in Lauterbach, the port of the former princely residence Putbus on Rügen. From there, the motor ship "Julchen" leaves daily from March to October. A maximum of 60 visitors a day are allowed to enter the small natural paradise as part of guided tours. A prior registration with the passenger shipping company Lenz is absolutely necessary.

An absolute highlight this island or this place. The Council of Ministers lived here extremely simply, a few huts, a hut was for dinner. No pomp, no luxury as we know it from today's politicians. The island remains a nature reserve is very good ...

The island wants is a nature reserve.
Therefore, you can only explore them using "Expediton". Landing is forbidden... It is small, almost cute, but the 3-hour visit (see photos) is worth it. The nature guide explains all sorts of things about the origin of the island (it once belonged to the mainland), the history of use, especially in the days of the GDR, and nature.
I don't want to anticipate more!
