Insel Vilm Nature Reserve

The island of Vilm is located in the bay of Rügen, it mainly grows beech and oak trees. Since 1936, the island has been protected and since 1990 part of the Biosphere Reserve Southeast Rügen. In GDR times, the island was reserved for government members of the GDR. Today, the buildings are used by the Federal Agency for Nature Conservation.
