"... The Rur was crossed by a ford in Blens in the Middle Ages. However, a bridge must have existed in the second half of the 16th century (heimbach-blens.de). A large wooden Rur bridge was built in Prussian times in 1833. This was followed in 1881 by the first stone Rur bridge, which was destroyed by German pioneers at the end of the Second World War..."
