The Plönlein is probably Rothenburg's best-known motif. Plönlein does not refer to a single object, but the entire area with the half-timbered houses, the Plönlein fountain, the Siebersturm and the Kobolzeller Tor.

Translated, the term Plönlein means “Little Square at the Fountain”. The Plönlein ensemble therefore includes the crooked house, the fountain in front of the half-timbered solitary structure and the two towers of the old city wall

From the "Plönlein" (Latin "planum": ebener Platz), you can shoot one of the most well-known postcard motifs in the city: Here, the Sieberstorturm (left) and the Kobolzeller Tor (right) pose together with a narrow, slightly crooked half-timbered house Fountain for the perfect motif - pure urban romance!
Who wants to shoot such a picture, should head north from the marketplace to the ensemble.
