There are many places from which you have a great view of Rothenburg o.d.Tbr. but from the Taubertal or from the Castel Sant'Angelo I find the view of the medieval city, with its unique sillouette and the towers, the most beautiful.

The square Sauturm is the southwest corner of the outer city fortifications. It is not built into the city wall, but rather in front of it and was connected to the city wall via a wall bridge that was designed like a battlement.

Hiking

The Sauturm or Wildbaderturm is named after the nearby Sausteige and was built from 1400 - 1405. The tower is a very rare example of an outside work with a spanking function and was used to defend against attacks from the Tauber Valley.

Via a wooden staircase you can climb the 4-storey tower up to the 3rd floor and from there continue on the stone bridge to the Zwinger and to the bastion the Turmweg tour towards Stöberleinsturm.
