At this point the Hohenstaufen built their imperial castle in 1142. From here ruled King Konrad III. the Empire. From the castle spread the settlement until Rothenburg counted in 1400 to the 10 largest cities of the Holy Roman Empire.

From the Burggarten you can look over the Taubertal in three directions. In the north the view of Detwang, the Fuchsmühle and the Topplerschlösschen, to the south of the double bridge and the Spitalviertel, the so-called "Kappenzipfel" and to the west of the Castel Sant'Angelo and the former ski jump
